To escape the tourist traps and club scene of South Beach, head up Collins Avenue a few miles north. The drive is lined with Art Deco hotels from Frank Sinatra’s days in Miami Beach. The beach has a boardwalk trail, picnic tables, grills and tree canopy for shade. There’s also a large Argentine community, so be sure to try the bakeries and the empanadas.
Meet Suzette Laboy
Suzette has lived in Miami since she was 5 and embraces its constantly warm but often finicky weather (hello, random afternoon rain showers). But even given that, she prefers to be outdoors, exploring Miami one park and neighborhood at a time.
